Spring Bursts Forward and Easter Greetings!

Spring has Sprung!

It’s finally arrived!  Spring!  All of the goodness that one can expect from this time of year has come forth with a wave of warm air and blossoms ready to burst open!! Being filled with the joy of the season, I took to my new studio space to create some still life photographs inspired by the freshness in the air and the Easter holiday. Bouquets of flowers, farm fresh eggs, and collections of rustic tidbits provided plenty fodder for the imagination!

New Place, New Ideas, Same Me

A Found Nest

Welcome to my new adventure!  My Lost in the Valley Studio Blog is now this lovely website!  Coming soon will be a store and other fun things!  It’s been a long time brewing & I’m very happy to have finally taken the leap to change.  “Petit a petit l’oiseau fait son nid.” = “Little by little the bird builds her nest.”

I’ve needed a change.  For a long time, I’ve wanted to hit the ‘refresh’ button on my business.  I had a hard time being honest with myself as to what I really wanted to do with it. It felt like I didn’t know, but I totally did.  I had to find my voice first.  Then, I realized that the photography is just one element of what I’m passionate about. I wanted to expand and tie it all together. This new space is the first step in that direction.

Space

Food Photography from the Studio

Today as I gaze out of my snowy window, I keep my mind fixed on the arrival of spring.  Currently, a winter storm rages outside with the possibility 16 inches of snow. It’s hard to believe we only have 5 and a half weeks left until spring!  My creative mind is racing with the promise of delicate lilac flowers wafting their scent through the yard. Oh, that smell!  I’m filled with visions of apple blossoms blowing in the wind, raining down their petals, and covering the ground much like this snow that’s happening now.  But!  I must digress!  The subject at hand is space!  I have a lovely studio space within my home, but with all of the props that I’m hoarding, I’d like to move this space out of the house!

The Changing of the Guard

“Suspended”

As summer hands over the reigns to fall, it is a good time to reflect on the season’s blessings.  Summer brought many changes in my life.  It handed me good times and bad.  It inspired me to reach for new goals.  It inspired me to get off my duff and start practicing yoga!  Something that I now look forward to daily!  Facing fall, I’m filled with both excitement and anxiety.  What kind of things will I accomplish in the coming season?  What lurks around the corner?

My Quiet Place

I am currently participating in a weekly Instagram challenge called #slowdownwithstills that is the creation of the fantastically talented photographer Christina Greve.  I’ve decided that I’m so inspired by this lovely project that I’ve taken to the much neglected blog to talk about it!  This week’s theme is “My Quiet Place”.  I’ve spent some time reflecting on the meaning of this wonderful theme.  I live in a peaceful & quiet corner of the world, surrounded by farms and mountains.  The daily quiet that I get to take in leaves me truly grateful for such a blessing.  So what about inner quiet?  Ah-ha!  That’s not always as easy to achieve!
